July 2 – 4, 2019:
Start the 4th of July party early at the Hollywood Bowl. Legendary hit-makers Nile Rodgers and CHIC team up with the LA Phil for a three-night celebration. The concert begins with star-spangled American favorites by the orchestra. Next, Nile Rodgers & CHIC set things off with “Le Freak” and “Good Times,” plus some of Nile’s hits as a producer – including “I’m Coming Out,” “Let’s Dance,” and “Get Lucky.” Then get ready for a fantastic fireworks show.

Celebrate the 4th of July with a Community Festival & Fireworks Show. This FREE, all-day family event, culminating with a 20-minute fireworks show will be held in Expo Park. The picnic-style event features games and activities for the entire family, such as face painting, a rock climbing wall and inflatable jumpers, and will include contests and prizes for attendees. food and refreshments will be available for purchase. Marina del Rey hosts its annual 4th of July Fireworks Show…Head to Burton Chase Park early to claim your spot, and have a picnic. It is recommended to arrive by 1:00pm. The big show can also be seen at Fisherman’s Village, and at the end of the Marina Peninsula (walk from Washington Boulevard (parallel to the beach). Many people sit on the rocks there…be aware there is NOT a park or grass.

Mash Gallery presents “LUSTER” featuring the art of Santa Monica artist Haleh Mashian. Curated by Peter Frank, the exhibition officially opened on June 29, with the artist reception taking place today. “LUSTER” is a personal journey that spontaneously uncovers abstract expressions. Haleh Mashian’s paintings reveal embellished secrets composed within thick applications of glitter, gold, and silver. Venice-Mar Vista Arts District (VMAD) takes place tonight featuring more than 25 Westside arts organizations. This is a new combined venture…including the successful Mar Vista Music and Art Walk and the Venice Art Crawl, creating a much larger event. The event has been extended to run an extensive 3.5-mile stretch on Venice Boulevard from the beach to the 405.

It will also be the most inclusive, featuring visual art, 3D art, music, dance, photography, poetry and storytelling, while showcasing every form of mobility from sonic skateboards to the city’s new smart bikes. Lois Lambert Gallery celebrates the art of Edel Bordón, Yamille Bordón, and Pablo Bordón…”It Runs in the Family.” Edel Bordón’s “Crowds and a Touch of Distinction,” an oil on canvas series, is defined by the need to understand and express one’s identity within the context of society. This series oscillates between the individual’s experience and how individuals amass into a collective. Yamilé Bordón’s sculpture series, “Speculation,” is about the transformation of everyday items into moments that are personal and historical. Yamilé rejects visual aesthetic in favor of a conceptual approach. Pablo Bordón’s photographic series, “Ludo” and “HDRs”, question objective reality by deconstructing and creating other realities. These realities are founded on transformation, abstracted and hyper realistic urban landscapes. Chimento Contemporary presents “KITCHEN,” a solo exhibition by Hasef. Curated by Autumn Breon Williams. Hasef’s work introduces viewers to a world of critical issues often avoided or overlooked by society.
