The public is invited to a different type of art party – a Letterpress Surplus Sale & Wayzgoose Celebration. FYI a wayzgoose is a traditional annual party or event held by master printers as well as print shops at the end of August. It originally was held at the end of summer to acknowledge the official end of the season. Back in the day before electricity, printers would work by daylight, once the summer was over, would then shift to working by candle light. However it also celebrates the start of a new printing season.

MWO (Mount Wilson Observatory) will host a lecture given by Lita Albuquerque. The artist will discuss her multidisciplinary practice at the intersection of art, science, and cosmology. She reveals how her work as an artist has activated her connection with astronomy. The event begins at 5:30 in the auditorium. Then it will be followed by observing through both the 60- and 100-inch telescopes from dusk to 11:30pm. Be aware that these are the two largest telescopes in the world. Thus it is a rare opportunity for the public to partake in.

In the Bendix Building…Track 16 debuts a solo show titled Graven Images to the Major Deities by John Collins. The LA-based artist has been working on an annual project called Moonlight Graham.
