The Brewery Art Walk….takes place on two days, this Saturday and Sunday.

The biannual Brewery Art Walk is back…For over thirty years the world’s largest art community, located in Los Angeles, is once again opening its studios to the public. This is not your average Artwalk! Each year the event atrracts over 5,000 people to the Brewery Arts Complex which offers over 150 open studios.

I’ve been many times before and highly recommend it. A former Pabst Blue Ribbon brewery/bottling plant, the Brewery is located in Downtown LA. There are so many interesting and creative artists working out of the Brewery.

It’s truly a great community of artists. Many live in their studio spaces. Each unit is completely different with many of the original aged pipes and hardware, exposed brick and vintage doors and windows.

The Brewery Artwalk is FREE and open to the public! It’s located northeast of downtown Los Angeles, off the 5 Freeway’s Main Street exit.

Check out the FB Page.

Craig Krull Gallery celebrates the art of two artists…Mark Posey and Mark Swope.

After the faceted dimensions of Analytical Cubism, the work of Picasso and Braque evolved into the collage-like constructions of Synthetic Cubism. In his first solo exhibition at Craig Krull Gallery entitled, “Bless the Mess,” Mark Posey similarly picks up the pieces of life scattered about him and arranges his droll interpretations of them onto awkward, wobbly tables that appear to be lifted from the Cubist realm of cockeyed perspective. Mark Swope’s photographs are grounded in the aesthetic and theoretical approach of theNew Topographic photographers, such as Henry Wessel Jr., Joe Deal and especially, Robert Adams.

Lark Gallery hosts a closing reception for “Photographic Language” and “Retrospective.” If you have not yet seen these exhibitions, be sure to stop in. Read more about this event on the Huffington Post.

Curator Nicholas Chelyapov is a talented photographer in his own right. His work will be featured in “Retrospective,” a solo exhibition featuring several decades of figurative and non-representational photography.

NickolausChelyapovSee image: by Nickolas Chelyapov, “White wheel of Fortune” 20×16, archival paper, 2011,

Chelyapov said since there is so much going on around us, we need to look at the big picture of existence. “It’s banal, but true, that photography can freeze some moments and convert them to longer-lasting experience/interaction. Hence, I wanted to put on display that multifariousness of everything in one space. The more divergent the participants and their works are – the more adequate I’d consider it for the show. And in reality, presenters, among other things, are from various ethnic origins, e.g., Oriental,  African-American, Latino, among others, reflecting universal and American reality.”

“Photographic Language” will feature the work of Alice Esposito, Dan Lopez, Dima Malanitchev, Dmitry Matusov, Donna Bell, Fabricio Espasande-Bouza, Frank Griffin, Gail Oliver, Gregory Thompson, Irina Chelyapov, Jean Brantley, Jermaine Saunders, Jim McKinnis, Kirill Chelyapov, Krisjan Klenow, Mark Anthony Stewart, Michael Bezman, Narine Isajanyan, Nickolas Chelyapov, Nickolas Peter Chelyapov, Olga Fotinich, Peter Shpayer, Richard Bilow, Richard S. Baik Art presents “Carrier,” a solo exhibition by Dutch-Indonesian (Yogyakarta based) artist Mella Jaarsma. Jaarsma’s handmade garments (“flexible housings”), drawings, and photographs explore the hairline links between the stability of tradition and the exploration of new worlds.”Carrier” addresses some of the central questions that arise when one assigns cultural identity to objects such as costumes and cloaks or when one assumes authority over others by creating division between one thing and another—one style and the next. For the purpose of this exhibition, the self-personality is observed by a different delegated ‘other’ self, sometimes resembling a (refugee) tent in attendance as decision maker.
