ROSEGALLERY hosts an opening from 6-8pm for “We.”
At this time, We the People must ask ourselves one question: who are we? Although it might seem like a simple question, the answer may not come so easily.
William Eggleston, Untitled, 1960-1972, 20 x 16 inches, Silver Gelatin Print
When the founding fathers penned “We the People,” they may have meant themselves, the white men in power, but We the People of today incorporates a much wider set of individuals. When We lives to juxtapose with the Other, just as it has in our current climate, photography’s unique power to democratize becomes a necessity.
In ROSEGALLERY’s previous show HE, SHE, THEY, we explored the multifaceted ways gender, sexuality, and identity build ourselves and our surroundings. And so, expanding our notions of us, ROSEGALLERY presents “We,” a selection of photographs, paintings, and prints which strive to show the encompassing sense of We through our idiosyncrasies and connections.

haleARTS is pleased to present “Icon” featuring the work of Judy Ragagli.
Ragagli’s oil paintings are so life-like, many people have mistaken them for photographs. In order to achieve accurate tonal properties of Barbie’s plastic flesh, Ragagli employs an arduous process of specialized mixing of oil colors that few artists have been able to master. Using only seven original color tubes of oil, she is able to precisely translate the vast and scintillating color properties of Barbie’s skin, hair, make-up and wardrobe as they interact with reflective light. The effect of her process and style culminates in a cohesive vision of the beauty and grace of Barbie and the artist’s own commentary on the significance of this great American Icon.

The Divine Nothing is an exhibition of new photographs, paintings, and sound collages by Los Angeles-based artist Jordan Sullivan. Thefirst room of the exhibition is composed of photographic works from two recent series – After The Funeral and Death Valley. These ethereal images of mountains, light reflections after a flash flood, and double and triple exposures of wildflowers shot through painted transparencies in the hours after a funeral ceremony for Sullivan’s grandmother, at times feel more like portraits than landscapes, reflections of an inner life, meditations on color, time, love, and loss.
