ThPOW-Squarelogo TheTASTEis food and wine extravaganza, sponsored by the LA Times and Food & Wine, includes 5 different culinary events. This year all 5 events are at Paramount Pictures Studios in Hollywood.

Get there early to enjoy Field to Fork from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm. Hosted by Russ Parsons, Times Food Editor, and Michael Cimarusti, Chef/Owner of Providence, Chef/Partner of Connie and Ted’s; Spotlighting seasonal and sustainable dining, this event will feature demos by Ari Taymor (Alma), Sherry Yard (Helms Bakery), Ray Garcia (FIG), and Cimarusti, who will also participate in a panel, “Fish or Famine: Sustainability & the Seafood on Your Plate” with Parsons moderating. Wine experts will share tips for pairing the perfect glass with locally-sourced dishes at two tasting sessions.

Then in the evening, Flavors of L.A takes place from 7:30 pm to 11:30 pm. Hosted by Jonathan Gold, Times Restaurant Critic, and Sang Yoon, Chef/Owner of Father’s Office and Lukshon;

APOW THETASTE SIgn homage to everything that makes the Southland a world-class dining destination starting with a compelling look at “The Power of Pop-ups” led by Gold with Gary Menes (Le Comptoir), Craig Thornton (Wolvesmouth) and Nguyen Tran (Starry Kitchen). Cooking demos from Yoon, Brooke Williamson (Hudson House/The Tripel), Bryant Ng (Spice Table), Josef Centeno (Baco Mercat/Bar Ama) and a mixology session with Robin Chopra (Corazón y Miel) will round out the locally-flavored programming.

Admission runs $65 to $125 per event in advance, $85 – $$ per event at the door.

TSat 8.30 GreekFestFlyerhe Long Beach Greek Festival takes place this weekend. In its 64th year, the annual festival offers Live music by the Olympians, exhibit dancing and social dancing, Greek food and product booths, children’s games.

Free parking at Cal State Long Beach front parking lots 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 at 7th Street. Free whuttle to and from parking lot and festival.

You could meet your Zombie soul mate….(wait, I don’t think Zombies have souls …do they?)

Live bands include The Rhythm Coffin, Zombies, and Robot Show. There will also be a DJ, a zombie and horror art gallery, and arts & craft vendors.

There will be free hot dogs from 5pm – 7pm as well as food trucks and drink vendors.

In Marina del Rey…

TSat 8.31 burtonChasepk RoseRoycehe 13th annual Marina del Rey Summer Concert series comes to an end. Tonight’s FREE and final concert features Rose Royce. Bring a picnic, meetup with some friends and enjoy free music.

The WaterBus, operating from seven locations in the Marina, serves concert-goers on Classical Thursdays from 5 pm to midnight, and on Pop Saturdays from 11 am to midnight. $1.00 per person each way. The Beach Shuttle provides free land shuttle service directly to and from Chace Park on concert nights.

SSat 8.31 TwelfthNighthakespeare Santa Monica presents Twelfth Night directed by Vincent Cardinale. The performance will be held at Reed Memorial Park.

Bring your family, friends and a picnic too. Admission is always a suggested donation of $20, but it says on their site, you can pay what you can. Kids and teens 16 years old or younger are always free. BE SURE to check their website.
