The Bendix Building hosts a couple of events. Track 16 (1005) offers a performance (Veuve Fraiche) by Hannah Hughes. Her title is drawn from the Duchamp work Fresh Widow, which refers to the black veiled widows of World War I, a war whose end is currently having its 100th commemoration. Working off the contradictions between delirium and rationality, the performance is a love poem to community both globally and within our own city. Event runs: 7-9pm; Then “Absence, the Landscape of Objects,” featuring Michael Thomas Hurley and Vladimir Goryachev opens at Monte Vista Projects (523). The exhibition brings together two artists working in the rendering of objects with connotations of portraiture and the landscape. Tiger Strikes Asteroid Los Angeles (523) is also hosting an event tonight – TSA LA and Monte Vista Projects present an upcoming second annual Holiday art raffle and art party.
