Head to the fifth floor to Tiger Strikes Asteroid (#523). “MATERIAL GIRLS” present “Palms,” the collective’s first show in LA featuring small sculptures by 15 artists. UCLA’s Center for the Art of Performance (CAP UCLA) presents “An Evening with Lettuce & John Scofield” at The Theatre at Ace Hotel Downtown Los Angeles. For more than two decades, Lettuce has brought a new vitality to classic funk, matching their smooth and soulful grooves with a hip-hop-inspired urgency and mastery of beat. For their performance at the Ace, Lettuce will be joined by legendary guitarist John Scofield. Scofield is a masterful jazz improviser with a very distinctive sound whose music generally falls somewhere between post-bop, funk-edged jazz and R&B.
