August 8, 2018:
LA Louver hosts its final summer screening. Rogue Wave short films features an in-studio look at participating artists Matthew Brandt, Gaijn Fujita, Ben Jackel, Laura Krifka, Heather Gwen Martin, Kim Schoenstadt and Matt Wedel. Rogue Wave Projects is an ongoing curatorial initiative which showcases emerging artists working in Los Angeles. The program will be screened in the gallery’s outdoor courtyard and upstairs viewing room, while the galleries will remain open until 9 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to view the films at their leisure, and experience the final iteration of LA Louver’s rotating group show EVOLVER.

Frederika Roeder opens in “About a Box” a group show. The artist-in-residence in a shoebox event features various shoeboxes…all for $500. The artist created an artwork in honor of Ursula Krauss who was a co-organizer of Academia Luciano in Civitella d’Agliano. Roeder explained, “She used this word – with her Rumanian/German accent – and I whenever I start dreaming of another residency somewhere in the Southern Mediterranean, I am reminded of it, and her. My box is an artist’s rendition of a scrapbook or summer holiday album – warm, sunny and playful and full of memories Meet the artists including Roeder who will be in attendance.
