The G2 Gallery is excited to present its 3rd annual G2 Green Earth Film Festival, which will showcase 23 eco-conscious films from all over the world on October 16, 17, 23 and 24. The festival, which was founded to bring together environmentally minded filmmakers from all levels of experience, will screen both feature-length documentaries and shorts over two weekends. For the first time, the festival will be awarding prizes; $500 for the Best Short, $1000 for the Best Feature, and $1000 to the winner of the Gottlieb Award for Environmental Excellence for top overall film.

Polígrafa Obra Gràfica, the renowned print shop, were innovators with their short-term residency program. In 1988 and 1989 Poligrafa invited eight prominent California-based artists–Billy Al Bengston, Peter Alexander, Larry Bell, Laddie John Dill, Criag Kauffman, Ed Moses, Eric Orr and Ed Ruscha–to each spend two weeks in Barcelona and create prints based on their experiences and impressions of the city. MIM Gallery is pleased to present “No Abode,” a one-person exhibition by Los Angeles-based artist HK Zamani. This is the artist’s first solo show at MIM Gallery.

Zamani’s work contains references to traditions of East and West. His domes are geodesic domes, a combining of an ancient tradition with modernism. The domes’ diaphanous, mesh sheathing does not offer functionality to the form, but does offer the opportunity for viewers to lose themselves in the folds of its drapery, focusing not on representation but abstraction. These paintings paved the way for Zamani’s more recent abstractions, and the exploration of paint and ghostly matter.

Fabien Castanier Gallery is excited to announce our upcoming exhibition entitled, “My Sonic Youth” featuring the art of Stuart Semple.

Following a traumatic near death experience as a teenager studying fine art in the English countryside, Semple has gone on to exhibit in over 15 solo exhibitions internationally in China, Italy, London and NYC. He is best known for his paintings, which present an emotive and sociological perspective on mass culture.

In “My Sonic Youth,” Semple uses painting, sculpture, and installation to explore social concepts in addition to dissecting the psychological evolution of youth culture over the course of several decades. The artist illustrates how spaces, communication, and music have changed drastically, forcing a generation of young people into a new kind of isolation. Heavily inspired by the music of his own youth, Semple uses references from music and art history to construct a fluid visual narrative, which tells the tale of a radical social and emotional shift among youth culture.
