The Culver City Artwalk takes place from 2-7pm. The Art Walk event will be centered on Washington Boulevard between Helms and Fairfax Avenues. Skidmore Contemporary Art hosts an art talk in conjunction with its current exhibition featuring  artist Bradley Hankey.

Hankey first starting painting images of California when he moved to Los Angeles in 2009 and hasn’t stopped since. Here is some info from the artist…”I see potential paintings every day. I could never paint all of them in my lifetime. My paintings are my way of trying to make sense of the world around me—more specifically, Los Angeles and California. There is so much beauty here that I am convinced I will have subject matter for the rest of my life.

The G2 Gallery hosts an opening reception for”100 Years of National Parks: The West,” the fourth and final installment of its year-long series celebrating the centennial of the National Park Service (NPS).

In the Miracle Mile area…

Launch LA is proud to present a two-person show of new work by Ana Rodriguez and Nano Rubio. The show combines abstract works from two artists who work magic with paint, color, and composition.

Ana Rodriguez brings a selection of untitled paintings grouped together under the title “Abominable Gift Baskets.” Vivid colors and playful composition evoke magical adventures of imagination. Confectionery, yet unsavory, Rodriguez fills her work with the nostalgia of hometowns that lay next to the toxic landscape of America’s chemical industrial complex.

Nano Rubio’s new work is a visual reference to hard edge painting, derived from action painting. Titled “Hard and Fast,” Rubio uses rigid, straight lines against labored, masked areas of color, activity signaling the human condition and sexuality. Intense and painterly, Rubio’s work speaks to individuality submerged by the technological revolution.

BLAM presents “Shift and Fade,” a group show curated by Dani Dodge and Alanna Marcelletti. The title “Shift and Fade” is based on the poem “The Secret of Light” by James Wright.

At the Santa Fe Art Colony, Studio C Gallery hosts a closing reception for “Bareback: Symmetry in Motion.” The group exhibition celebrates the horse. 

Horses have made a great contribution and sacrifice to all civilization. Yet today, horses are facing a daunting challenge with yearly rounds-ups of the BLM, Kill buyers, the horse racing breakdown scandal and drought has put pressure on horse’s well being. Time is of the essence. If not addressed, we could see horse’s numbers dwindle substantially. Wild horses will be gone from the range forever.

Studio C Gallery is partnering with two pioneering horse rescue non-profit organizations, Return to Freedom and Wild Horse Sanctuary, A portion of the proceeds from sales will go to help these organizations.
