Marciano Art Foundation (MAF) offers weekly performances and activations for Doug Aitken’s exhibition Lightscape.

The installations also features immersive live music. Concurrently, MAF will present Quaternion by Kristen Wentrcek and Andrew Zebulon, showcasing functional furniture encouraging reading and conversation. Tickets for Lightscape, Quaternion, and weekly programs started on January 11, 2025. Tickets are available for free online. The activation will feature The Los Angeles Master Chorale. Eight of its singers will be immersed within the Lightscape installation. Also guests will be able to intermingle in live performances from the film soundtrack. Glendale Art Parties

Then there are several events in GlendaleYou and Me and Ego by South African artist Steven Dayvid McKellar opens at El Nido by VC Projects. The solo exhibition is curated by Victoria Chapman and Stevie Kincheloe. In addition to being a painter the artist is also a musician and poet. He has toured  globally with his band Civil Twilight. Also in GlendaleThe Pit celebrates three new exhibitions tonight. The first, titled Keith Boadwee, Head to Toe: Works from 1990-2024 is explicit in nature. Please be aware that the subject matter is not suitable for all audiences.

In addition, Sinuous Bodies, a solo exhibition of new works by California artist Heather Day also opens. This is her second solo exhibition with the gallery. This exhibition unveils Day’s unusual approach to abstract painting, in which the canvas becomes a tactile archive of memory and time. Through her distinctive cuts, stitches, and tears, Day mines her artistic practice as an inexhaustible repertoire of biomorphic forms, weaving fragments of past canvases together to create dynamic new compositions that reference the natural world.

The Pit

Finally one more exhibition opens. Titled Losing Sight of It, this presentation of new works is by Colombia-based artist Shara Mays, her first solo show with the gallery.In our day-to-day lives, we depend on color to quickly delineate the visible world. Color serves to instruct, categorize, and differentiate. We’re taught to view colors as distinctive and definable. Red means stop, and green means go. Vielmetter Los Angeles offers an opening art party for Moonbliss Riverdream. The exhibition by Los Angeles painter Kim DeJesus is the first solo show with the gallery. Close by in ChinatownCharlie James Gallery throws an opening art party for Igokochi by San Francisco based artist Maya Fuji. The solo show will feature both paintings and installation. The artist blends Japanese myth as well as folklore with contemporary iconography. Therefore exploring ideas of identity and space, history and heritage. Head to Santa MonicaBergamot Station will be having several art parties at various galleries.

Von Lintel Gallery debuts Dopamine by Nicolette Spear. This is the artists first exhibition with the gallery. Spear’s artworks feature both nude classical style portraiture with post-Pop critique of our collective addiction to corporate consumerism. The painter’s portraits of humans include images of infants to the elderly. Corporate logos creep into the works thus revealing a systemic dangerous algorithm and threat.

SPARC At The Threshold, 2024

In VeniceThe Los Angeles Printmaking Society (LAPS) and the Artists Proof Studio (APS) in Johannesburg, South Africa, present a collaborative print exchange, At The Threshold, 2024. The Brick

In LarchmontThe Brick presents a debut performance of Gossip by L.A.-based artist Francesca Gabbiani. The multi-media performance investigates feminist symbology.
