Dwell on Design LA, returns to the Los Angeles Convention Center June 20-22, 2014. This 3-day event offers continuous content from over 200 top minds in design, dynamic exhibitions by more than 400 exhibitors.

With nearly 300,000 square feet to be transformed into worlds of inspiration and activity, from Dwell Outdoor to the Modern Family Pavilion to the Tech Zone, this year’s 30,000+ attendees will find themselves immersed in new ideas for modern living.

Saturday, June 21 from 11am to 6pm; 
Sunday, June 22 from 11am to 5pm

In Redondo Beach…

The City of Redondo Beach holds its annual CA 101 Art Exhibit.

This year’s event celebrates the Summer Solstice, at the world famous Redondo Beach Pier, occupying several buildings of the upper pier business office campus for a multi-gallery and outdoor installations event.

The event will take place by the water’s edge. Curated by Nina Zak Laddon with exhibition director Sandra Liljenwall.

The work of artist Joan Scheibel will be part of the show.

Mama’s got a fun art party for you…the Jeanie Madsen Gallery and Cannibal Flower will host an eclectic group show and art party featuring thirty three artists.

There will be some wonderful paintings, mixed media and photography on view. Work by artists such as John S. Reynolds, a prolific painter who also happens to be a prominent jazz musician will be on view.

The artist revealed to me that one of the works from the show, Oil Fields and Orchards (above) was an unplanned creation. The unexpected image just flowed from his brush.

Reynolds’ work has been part of group exhibitions throughout Los Angeles. He once sold a painting at one of his music gigs. He brought the painting to use as set decoration and sold it right off the wall.
