bG Gallery is thrilled to present “Time to Make the Donuts,” a solo exhibition by fiber artist Carol Powell. The opening took place on November 14, 2020. It will remain on view thru December 10, 2020.

The series, titled after the 1980s cult-classic Dunkin Donuts ad campaign, parodies nostalgic advertising from the 1950s-1980s replacing the products advertised with donuts. The exhibition itself consists of a baker’s dozen of intricately hand-threaded embroideries accompanied by drawings and plush sculptures. A touch of punk ethos is sprinkled into the works as many of their titles reference punk songs and the donut motif itself results from a vision inspired by the punk rock band, Alice Donut.
