Since the first Angel Art in 1990, internationally known artists including, David Hockney, Sage Vaughn, Catherine Opie, Mark Bradford, Jeff Koons, Ed Ruscha and John Baldessari have created and presented works, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting Project Angel Food’s meal program. “We are honored by the generosity and creativity of this esteemed family of Angel Artists,” stated Michael Maloney, event chair. “Time and again, these amazing individuals have stepped up and contributed works from the heart to help Project Angel Food.” In light of the changing health care system and challenging national climate, Project Angel Food is increasing awareness that “food & love as medicine” is needed now, more than ever.

The theme for Angel Art 2017 is ART=LOVE and Alexandra Grant has created a limited-edition neon work of art illuminating this theme. See below. Over 50 artists have contributed this year. This year’s auction includes works by: Charles Arnoldi, Chuck Close, Lecia Dole-Recio, Frank Gehry, Alexandra Grant, David Haxton,  David Hockney, Wes Lang, Dashiell Manley, Maynard Monrow, Yuval Pudik, Nancy Rubins, Sterling Ruby, Ed Ruscha, Kenny Scharf, Rodrigo Valenzuela, and many more. The online auction, hosted by Paddle8, will be available for bidding on May 31.

Project Angel Food needs over $10,000 each day to continue providing meals, and all proceeds from Angel Art fund our meal program. City National Bank, is the official 2017 Angel Art sponsor. Project Angel Food has served the community tirelessly for twenty eight years, providing more than 10.5 million meals to those living with critical illness. The kitchen and staff prepare over 11,000 meals a week free of charge, and medically tailored to the requirements of clients living with HIV/AIDS, cancer, kidney failure, congestive heart disease and diabetes. The mission is one of love, to feed and nourish the sick as they fight their battle. Many of these clients are living well below the poverty line and Project Angel Food is the lifeline, filling a desperate need in all communities. The client base is testimony to this fact, 40% Latino, 30% African-American, 21% Caucasian, 5% Asian and 4% other.
