George Billis LA, presents two new exhibitions –  “Much That Undoubtedly Came to Pass…” by Mark Zimmermann, and ”The Cityscape Show XI.” This annual exhibition opened on July 31, 2021, and features selected guests artists, along with gallery artists.

Info from the gallery:

Working out of studios on both coasts, Zimmermann’s paintings are the intersection of his experience of California light and New York geometries. The paintings walk a fine line between order and chaos – they are grounded by the geometric while being simultaneously free and exuberant in their line and color.

Life as we know it has changed dramatically and, perhaps in some ways, permanently in the last year. What remains unchanged is this astounding city we live in. Made of concrete and steel and asphalt, filling again with the activity of people going about their lives, this city and landscape anchor us. The long low skyline remains, the mountains ringing the LA basin stand, the ocean tides come and go, that enormous sky holds steady. And in the midst of it all, the strange and beautiful metropolis of Los Angeles exists as a place and as a dream. Los Angeles has always been a fantasy as much as a physical location.
