On Saturday, June 10, 2023, art enthusiasts enjoyed ICALA’s Open House 2023 celebration. The museum unveiled three captivating new exhibitions that will remain on view throughout the summer – September 10, 2023.
ICA-LA Carmen Argote
At the ICA LA Open House 2023, experience the debut of three shows: Carmen Argote: I won’t abandon you, I see you, we are safe, Alberta Whittle: between a whisper and a cry, and Trương Công Tùng. These exhibitions showcase groundbreaking artists who push boundaries and challenge conventions in their respective mediums.
Enhancing the visitor experience, join the art talk at 3:00pm, featuring Carmen Argote and Alberta Whittle in conversation. Moderated by ICA LA’s Senior Curator, Amanda Sroka, this insightful discussion delves into the artists’ creative processes, inspirations, as well as exhibition themes. Following the art talk, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm, the public reception invites attendees to engage with the artists, explore the exhibitions, and celebrate the power of contemporary art.
Alberta Whittle will be coming from Glasgow, Trương Công Tùng from Ho Chi Minh City, and Carmen Argote from the nearby Boyle Heights so come see their exhibitions and say hello! As always, the event is free and all are welcome.
More Events at ICA LA
June offered even more excitement at ICA LA, with additional captivating events. Carmen Argote’s collaboration continued on June 14 and 15, 2023. She joins forces with fellow artists to create unique and immersive experiences. On June 24, 2023, ICA LA hosted an Introduction to American Sign Language (ASL) session. Therefore fostering inclusivity for visitors with hearing impairments. Lastly, on June 30, 2023, Art Buzz, ICA LA’s happy hour tours of the current exhibitions, offered an engaging and social way to immerse yourself in contemporary art. Additional events took place on July 12, 13, 2023.
