In Santa Monica…
haleARTS S P A C E hosts an artist reception for artists Judy Csotsits, Juri Koll and Joe De Hoyos.
Judy Csotsits’ drawings are a combination of pen, ink, acrylic and colored pencil on mylar. Juri Koll’s subjects begin as a simple line or two, usually in oil-pastel or other medium that land on the surface of the canvas or paper very quickly. That form rapidly morphs into color, color based not on form but on emotive substance.
Last but not least…Joe De Hoyos’s work features collages created almost entirely from magazine cut-outs. Using only scissors, paper, and glue Joe transforms paper into artwork.
Enjoy white wine and freshly popped popcorn. The show will run through

The text in this exhibition is fiction. It’s a made-up memory. The essential premise of the speaker having been there is not true. The paintings here are indexical, but they also create illusions that rearrange the perceived order in which they were built.
