Happy Lunar New Year! Yes the 2025 Lunar New Year is currently happening now. It began on January 29 (runs for 15 days) and will end on February 12, 2025. However, due to this LA year’s fires, the date of the 126th Annual Golden Dragon Parade was pushed back to March 22, 2025

Celebrate the Lunar New Year at the LA Zoo today and tomorrow. It just happens to be the Year of the Snake, so it’s a perfect time to head to the Reptile Habitat which is called The LAIR. In addition the zoo will be offering all sorts of dance and musical performances by Asian Arts Talents Foundation. Celebrate the rich Asian cultural traditions with bilingual readings of popular Bitty Bao books, calligraphy demonstrations, education stations and more. Take a self-guided tour spotlighting animals from the Chinese zodiac, and animal feedings.

While you are there…take advantage of the Los Angeles Public Library (LAPL) Outreach Van offerings and get a library card; and add their hopes and wishes for the new year to the Wall of Well Wishes. Hours: 10am – 4pm; Free with paid Zoo admission and for GLAZA members; Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens, 5333 Zoo Drive, LA, 90027; https://lazoo.org/
