“I have four cityscape paintings inspired by various Los Angeles urban scenes that will exhibit at haleARTS SPACE,” explains the artist. “Three of the paintings selected of Hollywood and Abbot Kinney are monochromatic and express energy of the scene through ink & acrylic on canvas. The fourth painting of Silverlake contains more colors applied with a palette knife.”

Harker has an outdoor studo space in the San Fernando Valley where she paints on a regular basis. She continues, “Although I often paint larger works from the inspiration of sketches I make live, each of the paintings selected for this exhibit drew inspiration from photos taken on my adventures around LA. Every painting contains a story in it’s conception, execution and once it leaves my hands.”

Harker has traveled all over the world…China, Japan, and throughout Europe, however her Los Angeles cityscapes were chosen to be part of the upcoming exhibit by Michael Hale and the team at haleARTS S P A C E. “Michael, Sean and Caitlin have been a delight to interact with for both their professionalism and vision to help others build their art collections, become art collectors, or be exposed to a variety of art.” says Harker. “I appreciate the depth with which they honor and support artists through the work of the gallery. The consistency with which they bring art to the public through frequent exhibits is astounding and a benefit to the community.”

Brooke recently was featured in a new video by Kevin Lynn. It was a spontaneous meeting. “I met Kevin Lynn of KLL Video Productions one afternoon downtown LA while sketching in August of 2013, recalls Harker. “He had a camera with him and asked if he could get some shots of me sketching for his vimeo channel. The timing was perfect as I was thinking about making a video right when he walked up to me. It sparked this project which we worked on over the last several months.” For more information, visit Brooke Harker’s website
