Plus I want to point out that Concern Foundation is hosts its annual Block Party tonight. This organization has been raising funds for cancer research for five decades. Mid City

CMAY Gallery hosts a closing art party for Figuratively Speaking by Jody Zellen as well as Immaculate Tensions; We’re All Going Up! by Alex Parrasch. This was Zellen’s first solo exhibition with the gallery. The Los Angeles–based artist practice includes everything from animation, interactive installation, to app art, net art, drawing, painting, photography, public art, and artists’ books.

PRJCTLA @ CMAY Gallery

This was CMAY Gallery’s first exhibition with artist Alex Parrasch who recently graduated from Claremont Graduate University. Here he received his MFA and was awarded the President’s Art Award for the 2026 graduating class. Vielmetter Los Angeles offers two new exhibitions. Gallery 1 will feature Celestial Road Trip, Esther by Pearl Watson, and Ketchup & Mustard by  Evan Trine. While this is the fourth solo exhibition with the gallery for Watson, this is a spotlight exhibition for Trine.

Celestial Road Trip unveils new paintings and works on paper inspired by Watson’s recent move to Joshua Tree, CA. The artist relocated in 2025 after the LA Fires. Images include: coyotes, tortoises, as well as local fauna intertwined with fantasy. The spotlight exhibition of new works by Long Beach-based artist Evan Trine focuses on still life, while utilizing experimental printing methods, collage, and painterly interventions. Trine plays will color as well as composition pushing the boundaries of the photographic image. Both shows will be on view from August 29, 2026. Grangeville continues its run at the Ruskin Group Theatre. Written by Samuel D. Hunter and directed by John Perrin Flynn, Tim Cummings and Jeff LeBeau step into the lead characters in Grangeville. They play estranged half-brothers who are forced to reconnect due to their aging mother. While one lives in Grangeville, the other lives in Amsterdam,Grangeville deals with love, suffering, and the not so easy road to forgiveness.
