Gagosian debuts Sarah Sze: Feel Free tonight. The solo exhibition includes two immersive video installations as well as a new series of large-format paintings. The artist redefines collage as a spatial and temporal language that moves across mediums in flux. Thus transforming the image itself into a sculptural material. In a process of continual fragmentation and reconstruction, these works explore how our senses, emotions, and memories are conditioned by today’s media-saturated world. Melrose Hill
Hoffman Donahue debuts Deep Fake by Lynn Hershman Leeson. This is the first solo exhibition in Los Angeles in 40 years. The solo show features works from her iconic series Phantom Limb, Breathing Machines, Roberta Breitmore, as well as Hero Sandwich. It also spotlights never-before-seen early drawings, rare video works, and newly manipulated photographs. Ramsés Noriega: De Sonora a Los Ángeles opens at the Camden Anex of Marc Selwyn Fine Art. The solo show features the art of two decades and spotlights works on paper produced between 1968 and 1989.

Pop by Wönzimer Gallery for the closing art party of Cardboard: Infinite Possibilities. The group show is curated by Ann Weber and includes the work of twelve artists. Today’s closing event features well known architect Shigeru Ban. He stops by the gallery prior to his art conversation at the Hammer (see below). His structures utilize commercial cardboard tubes, including three projects realized in Los Angeles. Enjoy discussion focusing on the architect’s humanitarian disaster-relief projects. Hammer Museum hosts an art talk with architect Shigeru Ban (see above listing). Considered one of contemporary architecture’s legends, Ban pioneered the structural use of recycled cardboard tubes, beginning in the mid-1980s with exhibition designs and evolving into disaster relief architecture deployed across five continents.
