“Love & Lust” is an annual exhibition featuring artists Erin Hammond, Allison Hanley, Sarah Stone and Charles Swenson. haleARTS S P A C E has been presenting this Ode to Love’s Day every year since 2011.
Owner Michael Hale with the help of gallery director, Sean Hemeon, put together a wonderful and sensual show honoring the human form and all that “love” has to offer. Artist and animator Charles Swenson has made his mark on Hollywood through TV and Film projects and earned a Emmy Award for Best Children’s Programming.
Probably best known for his animation work on “Rugrats,” Swenson continues to create out of his art studio, located in the Brewery, in downtown Los Angeles. Based on his latest series, some could say he has a mild obsession with the female shoe. However when you notice the glint in his eye, while he describes the basic construction of a shoe you soon find yourself admiring a high-heeled boot.

I must admit, I have never looked at shoe the same way after talking with Charles. Let’s just say….Swenson’s work is a perfect fit for “Love & Lust,” as any good pair of shoes should be.
Swenson’s work can be seen at Barbara’s West at the Brewery, located at 620 Moulton Avenue #110, Los Angeles, CA 90031. The exhibition will be on view through the first week of March.
