3.28 LaLuzWET Jul-Aug 1978 lowresIn Silverlake, enjoy a book release party for Making WET: The Magazine of Gourmet Bathing at La Luz de Jesus Gallery. WET: The Magazine of Gourmet Bathing was one of the most innovative and seminal publications of the 1970s and early 80s. WET’s quirky, prescient editorial sensibility helped catalyze the graphic styles later known as New Wave and Postmodern. In pictures and words, Making WET: The Magazine of Gourmet Bathing tells the story of WET, from its beginnings in a Venice Beach art milieu to its apotheosis as must-have inspiration for imaginators of every stripe.

The author, Leonard Koren, was WET’s founder and publisher. Koren also wrote Wabi-Sabi: for Artists, Designers, Poets & Philosophers, the classic volume on the beauty of things imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete.
