Located at 1629 Abbot Kinney Blvd., Very Venice Art & Design Gallery is a combination of a co-up, and a gallery together. Each month specific artists are featured in a new show. Erik Fischer’s exhibit recently opened and is still welcoming new visitors.
This brilliant photographer has been published in numerous magazines, newspapers, and books. Fischer has combined his unique training and experience in photography and cooking to weave stories with his portrait, landscape, and architectural images.
Fischer was born in Aachen, Germany and graduated in Art History and drawing in 1989. He then proceeded to culinary school, graduating in 1993. He moved to New York in 1999, and then to Los Angeles in 2004 where he began a short introductory photography class at Park La Brea Art School.
Originally working as a private chef from the early age of sixteen, Erik Fischer has worked in some of the finest homes in America and Europe. Fischer’s photographic motivation comes from his travels and residencies throughout the world. Referring to himself as “The Chef in Exile,” the German-born artist pulls inspiration from places such as Nantucket, Southern France, New York, Virginia, his hometown of Aachen, Germany, and finally Los Angeles where he resides.
Fischer’s photographic compositions are inspired by the light and flow of interior architectural lines and decor. The aesthetics of the images are created parallel to his intimate knowledge of French cuisine where flavors and textures are synonymous with the details in his macro photography.
