Venice is home to many artists. One of LA’s most iconic neighborhoods, the Venice Art Crawl supports local artist and attracts art lovers for each event. The Crawl takes place every third Thursday, every three months. The Venice Art Crawl (VAC) offers original art, music, design, and entertainment. Here are just a few of my favorites…be sure to check the website for the full listing of events (see below).

Washington Boulevard will be the center of the December Venice Art Crawl. The Venice Pier (out from Washington will feature artists for the first time. The Venice Electric LIght Parade will kick off at Hinanos (just across from the Whaler) and in the parking lot by the Pier, stop by REBORN! This 5x 5x 5 alpine village on the trunk of a pick up will re-create a typical winter night under the sky of the Italian Alps. Black lights and handcrafted home lights deliver all the magic and bring back those childhood memories you thought you’d never experience again.

The 12 lighted Alcoves along the pier will be occupied by VAC PopUp Artists. Rhythm Jism (drum wagon) Venice Pier (Washington Blvd and Ocean Front Walk Venice, CA 90291) from 5-9pm.

All of the proceeds will be going to “To Write Love on Her Arms” (TWLOHA, a non profit organization that helps those who struggle with depression). Use our social reach to raise money to help artists with depression. Drawing while running! You will take home the art piece you create.

The Cows End gets into the act and hosts a VAC event upstairs….Enjoy art and coffee! Artists featured are: Outi Harma,StinkEye - Portrait of Robbie Page-MarkSatterlee Mark Satterlee and Roitash Rao.

Mark Satterlee’s work are assemblages in a medium of  fiberglass and pigmented resin. He explains, “Lately I have been incorporating Polaroid photography to create assemblages using the original photographic emulsion as well as other methods of image transfer. The subject of the piece is created using a multitude of close up photographs assembled together in a manner similar to Hockney’s work but akin to the expressionist works of Picasso.  These works have been described as cubist photography.

StinkEye – Portrait of Robbie Page is his most recent work. Satterlee takes the concept to a new level by combining the images to create the completed portrait in a three dimensional manner.

“The photographs are printed directly onto acrylic and supported by aluminum standoffs from a precision routed base.  This image must be viewed in person to fully appreciate, as it is a 3-dimensional work of art. To find out more about the art of Mark Satterlee, visit The Cows End, 34 Washington Blvd.
