In Culver City…George Billis Gallery LA (GBGLA) brings us two new exhibitions – “Intermundium,” by Judy Nimtz, and Bruce Everett’s “A Solid Serenity: New Landscapes.” The exhibitions will remain on view through October 9, 2021.

This is the gallery’s first solo exhibition of paintings by Judy Nimtz. The new series of oil paintings continues Nimtz’s exploration of the human figure and the landscape and is based on her recent artist residency in Ireland. The figures in this series are all based on the artist herself. Painting in her studio during the pandemic, Nimtz found herself grappling with self identity in a different way than in previous bodies of work and used the space of these canvases to explore her relationship with her Chinese heritage and what it means to be of mixed race in this day and age.

“A Solid Serenity: New Landscapes” by Bruce Everett is the gallery’s third exhibition of the painter’s work. The exhibition features Everett’s most recent body of large scale California landscape paintings. His medium to large scale landscape paintings featuring Southern California and the Central Coast are characterized by dramatic light with raking shadows, unusual vantage points, and inspired compositions.
