Culver City is turning 100, and the city’s hip and historic downtown area is excited to kick off the year-long festivities. Downtown Culver City’s ‘Block Party of the Century’ will take place on Saturday, September 24 from 12:30 p.m. until 4 p.m. (immediately following the opening day ceremonies).
A ne
ighborhood-wide, interactive celebration of creativity, community and cuisine, the Block Party will feature free entertainment, with Culver City-based performing artists of all types — from A cappella singers to samba dancers, indie rock musicians to poets, comedians to gymnasts — filling the streets of downtown Culver City as they compete for the coveted people’s choice ‘Culver Cup’ and $1000 grand prize. A myriad of fun activities for kids and families will include face painting, chalk art, musical explorations and more. And a delicious mix of great food and drink will be available at the outdoor, ticketed ‘Taste of Culver City’ which will showcase Culver City as one of Southern California’s premier destinations for exceptional dining. Culver City culinary stars, including Akasha, City Tavern, the Culver Hotel, K-zo, Lucille’s Janga, Meet in Paris, Pieology, Rush Street, Wildcraft, Culver City newcomer Spinfish and more, will offer mouth-watering bites of yummy treats throughout the afternoon.

” Culver City’s downtown area is Southern California’s best kept secret, featuring a wonderful mix of historic buildings, boutiques, theaters, galleries and unique restaurants opening on to tree-lined streets. A year-round farmer’s market offers fresh fruits, vegetables and a selection of other fine foods, every Tuesday afternoon on Main Street. In the summer months, popular Third Wednesday neighborhood-wide “Happy Hours” offer Spiked Lemonade, Summer Tini and Spiked Tropical Punch tastings throughout Downtown.

Parking: Take advantage of Downtown’s universal valet parking system: drop your car off at any one of four convenient locations, then pick it up at another. Free parking is also available for up to one hour in any of Downtown’s three municipal parking structures.
