Word is Art Gallery hosts an art workshop…”Beauty and the Charm Holder” today at 10:00 am with instructor Mari Burnette.

“We will cover wire wrapping, forging and texturing the wire, as well as adhering text to some of your objects. says instructor Marbi Burnette. “You will learn to make eye pins, headpins, and other simple wire wrapping techniques. We will begin the class by making a charm holder. Then we will hang charms, beads, found objects, etc, from the holder. Once the charm holder is complete we will continue with more wire wrapping while we embellish a chain with beads and several bead stations. When finished, you will have two fabulous pieces, to be worn alone or together. You will be the envy of all, once you have transformed plain ole wire and chain into Beauty and the Charm Holder.”

ACME presents a solo exhibition of new work by Daniel Cummings. Never limited to one material, the show will feature the artist’s drawings, large-scale paintings, and a site-specific sculptural work installed on the façade of the gallery building on Wilshire Blvd. Using simple, gestural drawings as a starting point – lyrical, curvilinear sculptures and bold, feverish paintings emerge.
