In collaboration with Pilobolus and MIT, The Music Center will present UP! The Umbrella Project, a free interactive community event where Angelenos get to connect with each other in a large-scale, live nighttime art experience using LED umbrellas.

Through careful choreography, Downtown Los Angeles will be illuminated by changing the colors of MIT-designed umbrellas, showcasing a shifting landscape of brightly colored figures within a one-hour session. The Music Center’s large LED screens on Jerry Moss Plaza will display the colors, patterns and shapes so everyone can see their movements in real time. The innovation and combination of dance and technology make UP! The Umbrella Project a memorable colorful spectacle you will never forget.

Attendance is free, but reservations are required for the 60-minute experience at http://musiccenter.org/up. Timed-entry participation must be reserved in advance for one of the two sessions available each date; space is limited to the first 100 guests per session. Masks are required for all participants, regardless of vaccination status. All participants must be at the event from the start to receive instructions about the experience. Unfortunately, late arrivals will NOT be accommodated.
