Palos Verdes Wild! features Chef Paul Buchanan, one of the founders of the Farm-to-Table movement. Chef Paul is committed to local, seasonal cuisine; founding his catering company, Primal Alchemy, on the principles of sustainability years ago.

The dinner will feature locally foraged elements such as coastal sage, stinging nettles, prickly pear and Palos Verdes Sea Salt; combined with ingredients from our farmer and rancher friends. Some of them include Weiser Family Farms, Gayton Farms, Drake Farms and Diamond Mountain Ranch. See the website for the full menu.

Capturing a Vision: The Portuguese Bend Tradition offers a variety of work from talented artists such as Clover Cox, Rick Humphey, Daniel W. Pinkham, Tom Redfield, Steve Shriver.

On loan by The Explorer’s Club (founded 1904 in New York City) is a rare find – the sketchbook of Albert Operti, made when the artist accompanied arctic explorer Robert E. Peary to document the first expeditions to the North Pole. Also on view will be Operti’s very large sketches, recently re-discovered in the Explorer’s Club archives. In spite of the hardships he and other members of Peary’s expedition endured, Operti still managed to record magical moments, like his sketch of the Artic Sunset.

Also opening tonight is “INHABIT: The Olmsted Brothers at Palos Verdes Peninsula.”
The exhibition presents a revealing visual and experiential take on the Palos Verdes landscape during these formative years. Utilizing an abundance of original source materials, the exhibition applies a multidimensional perspective to the Olmsted Brothers’ creation.
