The LA Design Festival 2023 (LADF) is back Thursday, June 22-Sunday, June 25, 2023 for a citywide, interdisciplinary celebration of Los Angeles’ deep design culture and community. Under the new leadership of Executive Creative Director Erika Abrams, this year’s theme, ‘Design for the People,’ emphasizes the voices of creatives and designers from all backgrounds and practices.

Headquartered at ROW DTLA and Helms Bakery District in West L.A. with an outpost in Long Beach the event also features independent events throughout the city. LA Design Festival 2023 is bringing together local and global creatives for collaborative engagement and conversation through a vibrant slate of events. The majority of programming is free for the public to attend.
“‘Design for the People’ is a call to creatives who have felt excluded, dismissed, or overlooked as design contributors to the LA community or industry,” said Los Angeles Design Festival Executive Creative Director Erika Abrams. “We wanted to create a space for these voices, not only for four days but year-round because we are all part of the design process. Design surrounds us and is a powerful language that transcends barriers of race, ethnicity, gender, dialect, economic status or origin.”
The Festival features events throughout LA, including architecture, interiors as well as graphic, industrial, fashion, set, costume, and experiential design. Highlights
Among highlights of LADF 2023 are a Friday night Block Party in the streets of ROW DTLA. Lachlan Turczan’s Sympathetic Resonance exhibit will also be on view. Also don’t miss MDAP’s Neurofeedback project, as well as Croft House’s 10th anniversary Sierra Chair exhibition. There will also be film and audio drama projects commissioned by ARRAY Alliance’s LEAP, and Close to the Edge: The Birth of Hip-Hop and much much more.
Also, don’t miss the International Poster Exhibition in the Downtown Long Beach Design District. The group show will feature 70+ posters by designers as well as graphic artists from all over the world. The exhibition celebrates design, creativity, inclusiveness, freedom, and love.
