Illusionistic Design: Art Informed by the Visual and Emotional Effects of Color

Art, as a medium of expression, is deeply influenced by the visual and emotional effects of color. In addition, color possesses the remarkable ability to evoke profound sensations, stir emotions, as well as communicate ideas. Artists harness the power of color to create visually captivating and emotionally resonant works. Each hue, shade, and tone carries its own inherent meaning and symbolism, thus allowing artists to construct intricate narratives and convey complex feelings.

Seda Saar – Los Angeles-based painter and multi-media artist, Seda Saar explores the relationship between materiality, illusionistic and literal space. Her work is a personal expression of a lifelong fascination with the visual and emotional effects of color, light and shadow, negative space, and the changing alignment of form as one’s viewpoint changes.

Kelsey Overstreet – Kelsey Overstreet lives and works in San Diego. Her multi-media abstract paintings serve as a blueprint for visual reference for the structure of the human experience. Her work is intrinsically autobiographical and focuses on the benefits of embodiment within the process of creating.

Jayes Caitlin – Jayes Caitlin is an LA-based abstract artist, designer, muralist, and a master silkscreen printer. She runs the studio Heavy Gel, which has been producing and selling limited-edition art prints for over a decade. Jayes is an exhibiting artist and also teaches printmaking at various schools, museums, and studios around California.

Erin Remington- Erin Remington is the Director of Sales and Curation at Saatchi Art. She has a Masters in Modern Art History, Theory, and Criticism, and a B.S. in Business Administration from Azusa Pacific University. She studied Art and Art History at the American University of Paris.

Nicole Garton– Nicole Garton is Fair Director at The Other Art Fair, where she oversees the Los Angeles and Dallas editions. She previously led marketing at Saatchi Art, where she was instrumental in the start-up’s transformation into the world’s leading online gallery.
