Artist Susan C. Price is set to show at First Independent Gallery (FIG) at Bergamot Station from July 18th through August 11th, with an opening reception taking place on July 21, 2018. Her solo exhibition titled “safe is a relative term” features new works such as “Avery, Yar” (below). This piece is “family and event inspired, pattern focused, and…well, the grasshopper on the balcony.”

The artist will be showing 12-16 paintings. Two were completed in 2013-14, the rest were painted in 2017-18 – all but one will be exhibited for the first time. “I like color and messing with shapes and seeing if i can be better at painting.”

Price said she finds inspiration from Picasso, Vlaminck, Mary Cassatt, Ben Shawn, Bonnard, Egon Schiele, De Kooning, Elliot Elgart, Joseph Blaustein, Hilary Taub, Harry Gunderson, and Carla Jerome.
