On May 27, 2026 art will take over a former wing of St. Vincent Medical Center. Hospital of Emotions is presented by House of Art and Dreams,ROYVA Group, as well as St. Vincent Behavioral Health Campus. Curated by House of Art and Dreams, the project will breathe new life into the historic property. The exhibition will run through July 31, 2026.
Hospital of Emotions
This unique setting alone creates a new artistic experience unlike any gallery show. In addition to large-scale installations, the curators have added an unusual slant. Since various emotions can arise while visiting a hospital, this element has been incorporated into the work. Hence each artist was given a former hospital room and asked to create an immersive installation inspired by a specific human emotion. As a result, visitors will encounter nearly 80 transformed spaces exploring feelings such as fear, joy, anger, hope, and love.
The exhibition will cover four levels and highlight more than 70 international artists and designers. Attendees can wander through preserved patient rooms, operating spaces, hallways, and nurses’ stations experiencing each artist’s personal vision. Moreover the exhibition will unfold during the building’s transition into the St. Vincent Behavioral Health Campus, adding emotional and historical depth to the experience. The curatorial team explained that hospitals often force people to confront vulnerability while clarifying what matters most. Thus the exhibition redirects attention from physical treatment toward emotional reflection and human connection through art.
Collaborations & Admission
Several nonprofit organizations, including The People Concern and USAVETS, also collaborated on select installations. Consequently, the exhibition extends beyond traditional art-world conversations and incorporates perspectives connected to mental health, veteran support, and housing insecurity. Admission runs from $42 to $55; Discounted tickets are available for students, seniors, veterans, and children.
