It’s the second day of The CinemaItalianStyle and Italian Shorts Film Festival presented by the Italian Cultural Institute, Luce Cinecitta’ & the Italian Film Commission. “On the Traces of Jazz” featuring paintings by Italian artist Fausto Roma opens tonight in conjunction with the film festival.

Roma’s solo exhibition is curated by Peter Frank and Alfio Borghese and showcases his recent series of paintings inspired by American jazz music. The exhibit includes raku works, pottery and the experimental video On the Traces of Jazz Live Painting Performed by Fausto Roma, created by Anna Connstatinova and Leonardo Roma. Seating is limited and on a first come, first served basis. IIC Members and Lingua Viva students enjoy priority access and seating. For more information about Fausto Roma visit his website

Fri-Nov13-Haphazard-flyerHaphazard is pleased to present “You Can’t Lose If You Don’t Play,” a group exhibition curated by Juneau Dahl & Charlie White, editors of Pacific Dissent Magazine. The event also celebrates the launch of the magazine.

The exhibition features four young Los Angeles artists exploring their own perspectives on the world around us through unconventional techniques and processes. Each artist has his or her own unique approaches, allowing the work and ideas illustrated in it to speak for itself. Each piece is a complex and fascinating world of its own.

Featured artists: Henri Paul Broyard, Rory James Toole, Townsend Madix, and Josephine Hidajat.
