dnj Gallery hosts an opening reception for “Shadow: Sunlight” from 2-4pm; Curran exhibits two bodies of photographic work: solar photograms – SUN, and color prints – SHADOW.

For SUN, the solar photograms document small objects, leaves, tools, lace, etc., and are contact printed onto paper coated with gum pigment solution. A skylight in the gallery offers a real-time demonstration of the role of the sun in the process of exposing a photogram during the exhibition. SHADOW features photographs that focus on fleeting traces of shadows cast upon a projection screen. The screen metaphor fuses the act of photographing black and white film through RGB filters, deconstructing the scene. Digital applications reconstruct the scene to reveal nuanced colorful shadows. This show runs from February 19 – March 2, 2019.
