Join C Gallery on Broadway and experience the mathematical paintings of Annie Clavel for “Everything Begins Elsewhere.” The exhibit borrows from the quantum realm and visualizes the scientific exploration of the unknown where everything is open to theoretical conjecture. There’s infinite latitude for artistic supposition of subatomic, entangled particles, waves, cosmology, quantum theory, and their applications.
Annie Clavel is a French artist and a student of mathematics and computer science, moving to California in 2006. In this show, she emphasizes the paths between universes and explores the duality between scientific perceptions and creative life. She imagines mathematical theories in color, shapes, light, and movement and her colorful surfaces depict universes driven by quantum mechanics, and mathematical concepts.
A parking lot is located behind and just to the northwest of the gallery. It can be accessed via an alleyway, turn left just before Hotel Royal (the hotel is at 431 E Broadway).
