MEY Gallery presents Reoriented, a group show. Artists include: Maryam Amirvaghefi, Mehdi Mirbagheri, Reihaneh Hosseini, Zeynab Movahed, Aryana Minai, Sanam Sayehafkan, Fatemeh Kazemi, Shany Dvora, Phillip Neman and Kaitlin Banafsheha. The show opened on April 18, 2023, but will run through May 16, 2023.

MEY Gallery‘s Reoriented

Presenting work by ten artists of Iranian origin spanning across countries as well as  generations, MEY Gallery’s Reoriented seeks to demonstrate the range with which contemporary Iranian artists are extrapolating their layered identities.

Additionally, Mey Gallery’s Reoriented is a nod to and rejection of orientalism, a concept that has long been used in discourses surrounding Iranian art. The term refers to a style of imagining, marginalizing, as well as controlling an imagined East.

MEY was born of the idea that contemporary art is a communal endeavor. MEY aims to bring those passionate about art into a space where they feel empowered to engage earnestly with work being made by rising artists today.

Founded by two women determined to help dispel some of the art world’s elusivity, MEY seeks bring community together.
