The 17th annual Historic Filipinotown Festival is a public free event in the Historic Filipinotown District of the City of Los Angeles to celebrate the creation of Historic Filipinotown in the City of los Angeles. The event is designed to highlight the arts and culture of the district and the multi-ethnic residents of the area. This year’s event will showcase the arts and culture of Southern Philippines in the Island of Mindanao. LA Louver hosts its final summer screening. Rogue Wave short films features an in-studio look at participating artists Matthew Brandt, Gaijn Fujita, Ben Jackel, Laura Krifka, Heather Gwen Martin, Kim Schoenstadt and Matt Wedel. Rogue Wave Projects is an ongoing curatorial initiative which showcases emerging artists working in Los Angeles. The program will be screened in the gallery’s outdoor courtyard and upstairs viewing room, while the galleries will remain open until 9 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to view the films at their leisure, and experience the final iteration of LA Louver’s rotating group show EVOLVER.
