In Culver City…Billis Williams Gallery presents new exhibitions – Bonita Helmer: Theory of Everything, and also Eric Hesse: Where the Space. This is the gallery’s eighth solo exhibition by LA based Bonita Helmer. The exhibition features the newest body of large and medium scale abstractions inspired by deep space and particle physics. Artist Eric Hesse is the gallery’s fourth solo exhibition with the artist. The exhibition showcases the artist’s new series of small and medium paintings in encaustic. West Hollywood
Louis Stern Fine Arts presents a series of rarely seen works by Doug Ohlson (1936-2010), created during 1969 and the first half of the 1970s. The paintings, consisting of brilliant orbs of brushed and aerosol paint that hover on richly colored backgrounds, represent a transitional phase in the artist’s career. Acting as a vehicle for his developing investigations of chromatic relationships, these process-based works facilitated Ohlson’s changing focus to color as his primary subject matter. Also in Hollywood…Diane Rosenstein Gallery presents two solo exhibitions by Marty Schnapf, as well as Carl D’Alvia. An LA based artist, Schnapf works in painting, drawing, sculpture, installation and performance. The artist grew up in a farmhouse in Newburgh, Indiana, and began his art making outdoors. In his paintings, figures overlap frequently, or a single figure assumes various irreconcilable positions. In addition, structurally dematerialized environments surround and penetrate these figures.

In the Project room the sculpture of Carl D’Alvia will be on view. This is the Connecticut-based artist’s first exhibition with the gallery. Based in Mexico City, Mexico, Raquel Alvarez received her BA in Graphic Design from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City. The Verdi Chorus kicks off its 41st season with its Fall 2024 Concert We Are Verdi Bizet for two performances only at the First Presbyterian Church in Santa Monica tonight and tomorrow. Led by Anne Marie Ketchum, who is celebrating forty-one consecutive years as Artistic Director of the organization. Furthermore, the Verdi Chorus is the only choral group in Southern California that focuses primarily on the dramatic and diverse music for opera chorus. The program will feature selections from three Verdi operas – I Lombardi, Don Carlo and Rigoletto and Bizet’s Carmen and also The Pearl Fishers. Westwood
The Geffen Playhouse presents a reimagining of the classic Waiting for Godot. The cast includes Conor Lovett (I’ll Find You, Versailles) as well as Rainn Wilson (Thom Pain, The Office). In addition to Aasif Mandvi (Evil, The Daily Show), and and Adam Stein, (Our Flag Means Death, Wait Until Dark), Lincoln Bonilla (Jane the Virgin, Star Wars) will play the part of the boy.
