Head to Venice…It’s that time again impressive muscle machines (both men and women) gather in Venice Beach. Three times a year…Memorial Day, July 4th, as well as Labor Day, Joe Wheatley Productions presents Muscle Beach Championship. This is where they crown Mr. and Mrs. Muscle Beach.
There is nothing more fun than watching these oiled-up half naked bodies make their mark, while you are chomping on a corn dog, or some other deep fried beach eats.
The event is FREE to watch, but if you plan on entering, check the website for entry charges. As always it will be held at the Venice Beach Recreation Center….it’s right on the boardwalk. So spend the rest of the day enjoying the beach – you may as well, make it worth your while..cause parking is a bitch. There is lots of pay parking around…but if you get there early, you may get lucky.

Downtown…Hospital of Emotions is an unusual installation located inside a former wing of St. Vincent Medical Center. And finally it’s the last day of the Cinecon 62 Classic Film Festival. The event takes place at the Nuart Theatre. Enjoy a weekend filled with timeless movie magic! For more than half a century, Cinephiles have gathered over Labor Day Weekend to celebrate the movies at the annual event. Cinecon is where archivists, authors, collectors, and film fans come together for four days of classic film & TV screenings, celebrity guests, and special programs. Hermosa Beach
Fiesta Hermosa has several areas such as the Garden, Makers Mercado, as well as the Carnival area.
FYI the first area is for 21+ and there is a $10 charge to enter the Garden. It offers music, plus beer wine and cocktails are for sale here. The next two sections are totally free to enter. The Maker Mercado showcases vendors and artisans with plenty of retail therapy. Then the carnival area caters to families, children can enjoy small rides and also games.
