The Venice Heritage Museum (VHM) presents its 2nd Annual Venice Heritage Museum Film Festival following last year’s sold out event. The one day, outdoor festival takes place on Saturday, October 7, 2023, from 7-10pm at Main Street Design Center, 228 Main Street, Venice, CA 90291. This will be the public’s first introduction to the brick-and-mortar location of the museum gallery opening this winter. See below for a tickets link.

2023 VHM Film Festival

Together with the Academy Film Archive, Christopher Merritt, David Kornfield, Laughtears Productions, and others, the VHM team has curated a fantastic selection of short films celebrating the city’s historic, artistic, and cultural legacy. The festival will also debut clips from the recently launched VHM Oral History Project.

“This is a lively, dynamic place, known for its creative history and lore,” says board member Michael Murphy. “People should come to the event to celebrate Venice’s heritage and its diverse stories.  The more we understand where we come from, the more we understand how to be more compassionate; helping us come together as a community.”

The event will feature vendors and concessions for sale…all at the doorstep of the VHM’s future home. Concessions include The Empanada Factory, as well as refreshments provided by Firestone Walker and Sapere Wines. Gold level event sponsor is Millán Architect Studio

2023 VHM Project

All proceeds from the VHM Film Festival directly benefit the Venice Heritage Museum project, which is raising money to open and maintain the first-ever museum to promote the cultural heritage and history of internationally renowned Venice, California. The museum gallery is opening this winter in the Main Street Design Center located at 228 Main St. #5.  Venetians, Angelenos, and all visitors will have the opportunity to experience stories, collections, and archives from one of the country’s most culturally rich and innovative communities.

Ultimately, the Venice Heritage Museum will serve to enrich the lives of current and future generations through exhibitions, events, and educational activities, connecting the present with the past.
