In Santa Monica, at Bergamot Station 2525 Michigan Ave., Santa Monica Museum of Art presents Beatrice Wood: Career Woman—Drawings, Paintings,Vessels, and Objects, a comprehensive survey and new assessment of this seminal artist who made a remarkable body of ceramic lusterware until just a few years before her death in 1998 at the age of 105. Oh No, I’m having an ART attack.There are just too many things to do. Both Bergamot in Santa Monica and Culver City have a huge amount of art openings.
Also you may just want to abandon LA this week and choose a more restful weekend.
Take a trip to Joshua Tree for a fun weekend of hiking and Art. Joshua Tree Highlands Artist Residency presents their 5th annual Art Exhibit at Joshua Tree Art Gallery. Last month, several friends that live in Venice, went to a show at this gallery and spent the night, and had a wonderful weekend and retreat. I highly suggest it.
It’s always great to celebrate an organization like this, who supports artists. Check out their website to read about their Joshua Tree Highlands Artist in Residency program. Tonight’s event is their opening gala reception featuring a group show from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. See artist list on the flyer.

Ok here are the details. It gets event stranger. Any photograph submitted will be displayed (Oh boy) and we the public get the chance (or are subjected) to view it. (I certainly hope they have quite a bit of wine).
At the opening night each visitor will be given a Mona Lisa mask, creating a feeling of performance. Baroque Music will be played during the reception. As we all know, today marks the 10 year anniversary of 911. (I can’t believe it’s 10 years). I am going to try to celebrate life today and not focus on the sadness. You can always make a donation or come enjoy a BBQ right on the beach in Venice for a good cause.

Glass Garage Fine Art Gallery presents acclaimed British x-ray artist Nick Veasey and his solo exhibition entitled “Patriot Acts.”Veasey’s works are actual x-rays of objects.
