Though this is not an opening (there is one Tuesday January 8th, but I don’t normally list Tuesday events), I love the story of how this exhibition came about. You can pop in tonight, (see gallery hours below) or go to the reception on Tuesday.
Emmy-winning writer and playwright Jane Anderson discovered the history of Edith Lake Wilkinson who was mysteriously committed to a mental hospital in 1924 at age 57.
Her artwork was packed away in a relative’s attic and forgotten for 30 yrs. Its rediscovery fired the imagination of Anderson, the grand-niece, who spent years tracking down any information she could find about Edith.
Gallery hours: Mon-Fri 6-10 pm; Saturdays 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
