As pThurs 7.25 LALouver Rogueart of the Rogue Wave 2013 exhibition which opened a couple weeks ago, L.A. Louver will host weekly artist talks every Thursday night at 6:30 pm for the next few weeks.

Enjoy an artist talk with Asad Faulwell, Peter Holzhauer, and Alison O’Daniel who will be providing visitors the opportunity to walk through the exhibition spaces, as they speak about their work.

San Pedro ArtWalk offers a lovely artwalk, I have attended it several times. Each month the Artwalk tour starts at 6:30, meeting at the San Pedro Chamber of Commerce, 390 W. 7th Street.

TThurs 10.4 SanPedro1st Thursdayhe First Thursday Artwalk Tour features a different itinerary each month, highlighting the variety of talent of local and visiting artists in open studios and galleries. This month, visitors will enjoy meeting the artists and gallerists at shows featuring photography, expressionist and impressionist abstracts, and plein air.

Michael Sterns Gallery features the photography of Joel Gitelson. Mike Rivero is a Cuban artist living and painting in San Pedro. His studio, a live/work space will be open his paintings, stop in and see the work. Another artist, Philippa Blair employs a full arsenal of abstract expressionist techniques, including the turning of her canvases so that there is no fixed point of view.

Park free after 6:00 downtown, and always free at Ports O’ Call near the San Pedro Art Association (open First Thursday), Berth 77, just north of the Ports O’Call Restaurant. The Red Car Trolley will pick you up there, and take you to (and from) downtown San Pedro. It runs from 5:00 to 10:00 p.m.

gThur 6.6 SanPedro AnaGensonallery 381 and tango san pedro combine forces in creating the complete art experience. The gallery offers exhibitions of photography, painting, video and installation form the framework for weekly tango classes and events.

Tonight’s event features “The Mythical Realms of Ana Marini Genzon.”

To quote Dorothy, “We are not in Kansas anymore. We must be over the Rainbow.” James never ceases to amaze, always looking to challenge himself and the viewer. As a self-taught artist, James is always experimenting, giving us a peek behind that curtain..
