InWU 7.21 LoveShack BrandedARts celebration of International Nelson Mandela Day, street artist David Flores has been busy painting (Friday and Saturday) a mural of Nelson Mandela for his 95th Birthday, with a special unveiling reception today.

Come celebrate Nelson Mandela and enjoy live music from Remi Kabaka and King of Boys. Families and children are welcome.

The famous artist joins thousands of global citizens in celebrating Nelson Mandela as a champion of human rights and advocate for positive social change. The Rico’s Get Better Foundation (RGBF) spearheaded the Celebrating Nelson Mandela Day in LA movement with community services events throughout the Los Angeles area. Branded Arts procured the mural site, secured Flores for the project and is co-hosting the unveiling celebration.

In Santa Monica… at Bergamot Station

BergamotStationlogo copyArtist Bettina Hubby and the Santa Monica Museum of Art hold a candle-lit and disco-ball activated Dig the Dig Dinner bringing together construction workers, local business owners, and neighbors for a festive meal, music, and performances by local artists. This potluck dinner and communal gathering is a celebration of the Dig the Dig project and the Metro Expo construction taking place adjacent to the Museum in Bergamot Station Arts Center.

Dinner guests will enjoy samples of DIG, a bespoke scent created by The Institute for Art and Olfaction; music from T. Kelly Mason, Soy La Mujer, and Chris Stroffolino; and cocktail artistry by Ivette Soler.

Additional creative contributions from Fallen Fruit (David Burns and Austin Young), Samo Hurt, Barbara Gillespie, Dave Cull, and Zig.
