The entirety of his practice is like an ongoing installation that takes place in different locations across many moments in time; each piece refers both to past works as well as a potential infinity of future ones. This multiplicity informs his Renaissance-like ability to employ a dizzying array of materials and modes. Yet despite the masterful technique that characterizes his approach, the interconnectivity and mystery he conjures are decidedly futuristic, reflective of a world in which more and more seems to be known but less and less is certain.
“Black Bars,” an exhibition of new work by Kathryn Andrews will also be celebrated tonight. Kathryn Andrews examines the latent power dynamics in acts of desire and consumption, creating works that implicate the viewer as both an agent and an object of such desire.

Corey Helford Gallery proudly presents “Rainbeau Samsara,” the newest body of work from Los Angeles-based figurative painter Natalia Fabia and her first solo show in four years.

Fabia has been painting the female form in environments for years. After the birth of her daughter, Peribeau, and the sudden loss of her brother, her painting exploration has progressed. The artist was drawn to the absolute truth of what remains of the physical body after one transitions; a tangible ash of our carbon frame, our stardust. It is this stardust that links us to the planets and cosmos, to the sand and dirt of the earth, and to each other. While so much of our existence and human experience is a mystery, Fabia found comfort through meditation, and in the knowingness she felt holding and even painting with human stardust, a tangible truth.
In Gallery 2, celebrate two artists–Alessandra Maria and Lauren Marx–with an outstanding new body of work. Both artists utilize powerful and traditional iconography to tell a story. Whether in Maria’s iconic, Renaissance-inspired works, or in the natural elements of Marx’s illustrations, they are reworking icons in a manner that is entirely their own.
The gallery will also be debuting a new collection of works from Los Angeles artist Elizabeth McGrathon. The artist will transform Gallery 3 into her own wonderland of dark whimsy with her delightfully odd creatures variously adorned with jeweled eyes, crystal blood drops and gold trim. Some have miniature diorama windows in which you will find tiny dreamlands filled with cupcakes, the Grim Reaper, unicorns and more. The “star” of the show is a three-headed deer covered in over fifty thousand Swarovski Crystals.
