Check out the Good Food Festival and Conference today. LACMA co-hosts a series of panel discussions on building organic and sustainable food systems from noon – 6 p.m.
Tours will begin at 10:30 am and run throughout the afternoon on Saturday. The tours will include an exhibition of works of art related to food and dining in LACMA’s collection will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis (Trade and the Changing Palette of the Dutch and The European Table Transformed, Dining Out in 19th Century France and The Age of Elegance).
Admission to LACMA will be free of charge to Good Food Conference ticket holders on November 3.

Shulamit Gallery, a brand new gallery opens with two inaugural exhibitions…My Heart Is in the East, and I Am at the Ends of the West.
Both exhibitions are held in collaboration with the Fowler Museum at UCLA, whose exhibit entitled Light and Shadows: The Story of Iranian Jews is now being shown. The Fowler’s readapted exhibition, first organized by Beit Hatfutsot in Tel Aviv, Israel, will focus specifically on LA’s Iranian community.

Kopeikin Gallery presents their first exhibition with German artist Katrin Korfmann titled Count for Nothing.
The images in this series are multiple exposures captured in one location at a time. These segments form a cumulative visual memory in a photographic form of that moment. The time indication, stated in the titles of the works, refers to the amount of time used to capture the material. The collected material becomes merged into the final artwork.

Walter Maciel Gallery presents a new body of multi-panel paintings by Oakland based artist Freddy Chandra.
The exhibition marks Chandra’s second solo show with the gallery following his inclusion in several group exhibitions and an introductory solo show in 2010. Chandra’s new work continues his exploration of light and surface with the use of plexiglass coated with resin and airbrushed pigments.

Actual Size presents Sculptures from the Pedestrian Memory Bureau: New Work by Yelena Zhelezov.
The exhibition features a collection of Zhelezov’s recent sculptures and performative objects. The works displayed act as playful ciphers, translating topographic markers into lyric constructions that intimately investigate the biological and social body in space and time.
