In Culver City…

MIM Gallery hosts a closing reception fro “GHOSTS, GATES, SPILLS, AND A FOG MACHINE,”Sat-April23-Mim a solo exhibition by Berlin and Los Angeles-based artist Annette Weisser. This is the artist’s first show at MIM Gallery. Annette Weisser’s artistic work of recent years asks how specific historical constellations leave a lasting mark on attitudes and approaches to life without, however, being fully reflected upon or articulated.

See image: gallery view

Her work is a self-inquiry regarding her political socialization in West-Germany in the 1980s, as well as the enduring influence of National Socialism on German society. Weisser embarks on “terrain vague,” insecure ground, in order to research subjective impressions and to test the connection to socially effective forces.

Kopeikin Gallery presents “Every Building on the Sunset Strip”

Inspired by Ruscha, Amy Park reinvigorates “Every Building on the Sunset Strip” by recreating every page from the book in a large-scale watercolor format. This immersion overcomes the physical limitations of the book and enables one to see the project in its entirety. Hop across the LA river…

TonighMOPLA-SAGEProjectst SAGE Projects will be hosting a dual event with the Month of Photography Los Angeles presenting Pro’jekt LA – Part Four of MOPLA’s projection series featuring a selection of images submitted to this year’s call for participation by photographers worldwide, in addition to images from current ASMP LA members.

Earth, wind, water, and metal are the key elements in this stunning show by Los Angeles bred photographer Charlotte Patterson. Through her dynamic photographic process of forced decay and rebirth of an original image, she forces the viewer to reconsider traditional modes of perceiving and displaying photography. Moving away from the literal and into the abstract, Patterson infuses the viewing experience with ideas of ephemerality and immortality, the artist’s lens ultimately bringing focus to the beauty between the lines.
