Mount Wilson Observatory hosts its third concert in its Sunday Afternoon Concerts in the Dome six-month series on Sunday, July 9, 2023. Artistic Director and co-founder Cécilia Tsan curates the concert series.

Haendel-Halvorsen and More

The program features Haendel-Halvorsen: Passacaglia for Violin and Cello and Mozart: Divertimento in E flat for Violin, Viola and Cello performed by Ambroise Aubrun (violin), Victor de Almeida (viola), and Cécilia Tsan (cello). Concerts start at 3:00pm and also at 5:00pm. There will also be an artist reception with light fare and refreshments between the performances.

Tickets are $55 and are available for purchase on Mount Wilson Observatory’s website in advance (highly recommended). Tickets are also available at the door. For additional information on the concert series, please visit the website below.

Dome seating is limited. Access to the dome performances is via a 53-step staircase. Be aware that since Mount Wilson Observatory sits at a mile-high elevation, so the air is noticeably thinner. Also, there is no ADA-compliant access.

All proceeds go to support the Mt. Wilson Institute in its mission to preserve, protect as well as promote the Observatory and the science accomplished there. Astrophysical pioneer George Ellery Hale founded the legendary observatory in 1904. Also, the property is open for free to the public year round, weather permitting.
